“… that young boy who would run to the desk and ask Scott and me wonderful and challenging acting questions as we directed him in shows. That boy who was so talented I could confidently recommend him for acting jobs knowing he could perform brilliantly. That boy who was a delight to teach and truly a student I loved…I have a star near the top of my Christmas tree that makes me think of ‘The Little Prince’, Tim.”

Allison Biggers, Teacher
Alliance Theatre Storytellers

“I taught Tim myself over the years and always enjoyed his warmth, his enthusiasm, his talent, and his genuine love of acting. He shared his gifts with us all so many times and we remember him with great affection.”
Sharon Brewer
Alliance Theatre Acting Program

“Life will never be the same without you. I miss you and love you more than any words can express. Always yours, Emilie.”

Fireflies

The air was strangely still on that glorious night in July. Had stepped outside on my pale bare feet, and the scrape of the rough driveway against my pink skin pierced through my entire body. I shivered with pure joy. I tiptoed cautiously to my deserted lawn, so as not to awaken the dormant creatures already asleep in the approaching darkness.

The sky was studded with shimmering stars, the diamonds of eternity trapped in an endless black blanket. Thin gray and lavender clouds dotted the horizon, seemingly holding on to the last remnants of a beautiful day. The sun’s brilliant rays had log since subsided, and a silver “Cheshire Cat” smile moon had taken its place. A breeze stirred the air and with it came the sweet aroma of the summer’s treasures-the flowers.

I sat and watched as the fluorescent fireflies glided gracefully along, their little bodies illuminating their surroundings and creating trembling shadows against each blade of grass or tiny bush they passed. Once landed carefully on a stem near my resting hand, and I reached over to grasp the glittering ball of light. It lit up my hand, ~making each crease and wrinkle seem like great canyons and valleys. I laughed to myself as its soft padded legs crawled tentatively along my pinkie, tickling me with each curious step. It paused for just a moment on the tip of my finger before spreading its glossy black wins and flying skyward.

This reflection helps me to describe my dear friend’s life which was cut short so very suddenly, much like that of a firefly. Tim was a wonderful performer, and a great friend. He shone his light to all within his reach, and embraced them. Tim was like the tiny glow of a firefly. He at first glance seemed to be dull, but as you looked closer you saw that the pathway he took in life was brighter than the sun. Tim lived life for all it was worth, and absorbed everything0then packed it away. He was full of jokes and fun, yet could be serious and understanding. Then, he fluttered away to another work, like the firefly into the quilted night sky. I will always remember Tim as my firefly and as a special light in my life.
