‘GODWINKS’ AUTHOR AND ‘WOMAN OF A HUNDRED VOICES’
BRINGING ‘AN EVENING OF INSPIRATION & COMEDY’ TO DUNWOODY
Event to raise money for The Tim Redovian Memorial Fund
Sept. 9, 2009 – Get ready for a night of “Godwinks” and good laughs. Husband and wife team SQuire Rushnell, the author of the popular When God Winks books, and Louise DuArt, “The Woman of a Hundred Voices,” are bringing An Evening of Inspiration & Comedy to Dunwoody.
The event will be held Saturday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m. at Dunwoody Community Church and admission is free. An offering will be taken to benefit The Tim Redovian Memorial Fund, which provides financial aid to high school performing arts students. Tim Redovian was a 16-year-old student at the DeKalb Center for the Performing Arts when he died of a complication of viral pneumonia in 1996. Three students who have received scholarships from the more than $188,000 raised to date will be performing during the evening.
A compelling storyteller, SQuire Rushnell was an award-winning ABC Television executive for 20 years, where he led Good Morning America to number one and was the father of SchoolHouse Rock and the ABC Afternoon Specials. He’s written four books in the When God Winks series, and describes a “Godwink” as something you might call a coincidence or answered prayer – “a direct, person-to-person message to you from above that says, ‘I’m thinking of you.’”
On a recent Good Morning America, SQuire told the story of Dunwoody resident Stasia Kelly, who had a Godwink on the way to the funeral of her father, the famous clown Emmett Kelly. (Visit www.whengodwinks.com to see SQuire tell the story on GMA and learn more about Godwinks and his book series.)
Often called one of the world’s best comedic impressionists, Louise DuArt hosts a Living the Life, a daily talk show on the ABC Family Channel, where she introduced some of the original characters in her repertoire, such as Red Hatter Roxie Robbins. She also sold out an eight season run with Tim Conway, showcasing her impersonations of stars including Joan Rivers, Barbra Streisand, Whoopi Goldberg and Judge Judy. A popular Women of Faith speaker, she has co-authored the book Couples Who Pray with SQuire.
Squire and Louise will be signing books available for purchase following the show during a dessert reception sponsored by Café Intermezzo.
The student performances will include poetry by Natalie Cook, and songs by Laura Briss, Christine Heppner and Stephanie Dorfman. For more information about The Tim Redovian Memorial Fund, visit www.timredovian.org.
